An excellently-written review of a great study.

The closing words which include that "love, mentorship, and companionship can take many forms" is worth remembering for all sorts of relationships regardless of age or gender.

If anyone is looking for a complementary subject for a similar study, then I should recommend looking at men in a heterosexual married relationship who secretly have non-monogamous sex with other men. In my personal experience there will be found many very similar situations and conclusions to this study; and yet there will also be many differences which are worth exploring in a similar fashion.

The reviewer mentions "fascinating insights into the evolving nature of masculinity for gay and bisexual men", which I believe could be enhanced by a study such as I am proposing here.

One aspect which I feel might be helpful for the future, is that in my own m2m relationships; which mostly comprise fairly long-term regulars who are in similar heterosexual married relationships; we feel no sense of ownership or jealous possession of each other; perhaps because we already feel owned by our married relationship. Given the toxicity of many relationships of any kind, perhaps this is worthwhile exploring, in seeking ways ahead to forge better long-term relationships.

Thank you for such an excellent review.

If we look at human evolution from an organic process from a state of infancy in capacity and understanding, and transitioning through various epochs towards greater capacity and understanding, we must conclude that Racism and discourses justifying inequality began with the proto-Racism of the ancient Greeks and Romans with their 'Geographical Determinism' view of humanity.

In our early stages of evolution immaturity would best describe our state of being. A gradual advancement in capacity and sophistication of what it means to be human had to be matched with a gradual enlightenment of humanity via Religion. The earliest stages allowed for institutions like Slavery which by default requires a mindset of master/slave, or Inferiority/Superiority. Religion per force had to be revealed in separate stages via different Messengers to address the complexities of human relationships in each epoch. Inequality had to be the norm in our stages of immaturity. Only when humanity potentially reached Maturity by the 19th Century could our human capacity accept the reality of "The Oneness of Humanity". A vision articulated by Baha'u'llah that emphasizes the equality of all humans despite varying rates of development of common innate qualities gifted all humans by God.

Baha'u'llah pointed out that the peace of the world is unattainable until its unity is firmly established; and elsewhere he says that unity depends on Justice being applied in human affairs. But for Justice there needs to be equality. And recognition of the innate equality of all humans had to wait until humanity reached the stage of Maturity.

Locke, Hobbes, Aristotle, Tacitus, etc. were locked in states of immaturity and therefore couldn't have imagined the inherent equality of all humans. And why notions of autochthony and purity of race were fallacies that had to endure until Science evolved and a new Religion[The Baha'i Faith] was revealed in parallel, so as to address and refute myths of purity of race and racial superiority.
