The Gray Man Movie Quotes

The Gray Man Parents Guide

The Gray Man is CIA operative Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling), aka, Sierra Six. Plucked from a federal penitentiary and recruited by his handler, Donald Fitzroy (Billy Bob Thornton), Gentry was once a highly-skilled, Agency-sanctioned merchant of death. But now the tables have turned and Six is the target, hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), a former cohort at the CIA, who will stop at nothing to take him out. Agent Dani Miranda (Ana de Armas) has his back. He’ll need it.

The Gray Man Age Appropriate Parents Guide

Let’s take a look at what parents need to know before letting their kids watch Netflix’s The Gray Man.

Language: The Gray Man contains strong language, with profanity used throughout. Lookout words include: sh*t, b*tch, a**h*le, d*ck, b*st*rd, d*mn, and one use of the word f*ck.

Mature Content: The biggest warning for parents in the film is the violent content it contains, with plenty of blood and gore. Characters are shown in hand-to-hand combat and wielding knives, guns, and huge explosions. Many characters are in peril, shown being tortured with the use of electricity and pliers, and there is even a scene in which a child is burned with a cigarette. Characters are also shown consuming alcohol.

Overall Thoughts

Netflix’s The Gray Man is touted to be Netflix’s most highly-budgeted movie to date, not only because it packs its cast with an incredible star-studded line-up, but it is also filled with action-packed, high-intensity car-chases, gun battles, and explosions. Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans are the real draw of the film, and the duo play-off each other well. With his calm and calculated demeanor throughout the film, Gosling is the ideal protagonist. In comparison, Evans, best known as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has brilliantly taken on more villainous roles, and this author is here for it. It may not come as a surprise that Evans’s comedy timing is always on point, but when he cracks the dark jokes in the film, it just sits differently with the viewers, in a perfectly evil way. It is a tough job to steal the screen with the handsome as ever duo of Gosling and Evans at the helm, but Ana de Armas (No Time To Die) does the impossible every time she graces the screen. The only complaint surrounding de Armas’s performance in the film is that viewers didn’t get to see enough of her.

Netflix’s The Gray Man is based on the 2009 Mark Greaney novel of the same name and directed by the Russo Brothers, who received a whopping $200 million dollar budget to make the film. Much of that budget, aside from the actors’ paycheck, most likely went into the huge production action scenes, of which the movie has a total of nine that will blow audiences’ socks off. The film also travels around the world, as the sets include Bangkok and Prague, making for a visual extravaganza.

Gosling, Evans, and de Armas are not the only big names viewers can expect to see in The Gray Man. Billy Bob Thornton and even Bridgerton sex icon Rege-Jean Page co-star in the movie, as well as Bollywood star Dhanush, who is even referred to in the film as “my Tamil friend.” The movie sure has all the makings for a hit. However, despite this potential for success, it comes with some flaws, particularly in the pacing of the story. When a film contains flashbacks, it can always be tricky to keep the flow of the story going, and to not confuse the viewer. The flashbacks in The Gray Man seemed unnecessary, as they didn’t add anything to the over 2-hour film and just left too many unanswered questions looming.

Luckily, audiences have the opportunity to watch The Gray Man in theaters, as it has hit the silver screen before being released on the streaming service. Seeing this big blockbuster on the big screen will give viewers more of an appreciation for the grand production and action sequences. Despite the shortcomings of the film, viewers of the action genre are well known to take plot holes with a grain of salt and will find more than enough here to keep them happy.

The Gray Man Movie Quotes

If this is about Winky’s Cantina, I didn’t have anything to do with it.

You think I’m gonna rat somebody out for Bubbalicious? You’ve got another thing coming to you. Watermelon flavor or not.

We’re gonna train you to kill bad guys.

You would exist in the gray.

I’m here to help you become a value-add instead of a value lost.

You go fly on the wall yourself.

We have a very small window to take out a very bad dude.

They sent you out to kill one of your own.

You give them hell, Six.

A bad guy carrying bad sh*t.

I know there wasn’t some palm trees, 401k plan for me, but I mean, at least tell me you guys had some kind of exit strategy.

I don’t need stable. I need effective.

I’d rather you punch me in the d*ck.

If you like breathing, you might want to fix this.

You know what makes me sad, Don? Your small hands?

Who likes cats?

That’s the beauty of the private sector. I don’t care about reasons.

Emotionally? I’ve been better.

Sounds like you’re in a real pickle, Fitz.

When you say things like, “chop your head off,” it makes you seem untrustworthy.

I definitely don’t like you.

Looks like you’ve overplayed your hand.

You don’t have to care. Just keep her alive.

Does he ever get to the top of the hill?

Unless bloody and beaten is the kind of look you’re going for.

Six did his job until he didn’t.

He hurts people because that’s who he is. That’s who you’re protecting.

You make a lot of noise.

If I’m being honest, I liked your old hair better. The one that didn’t make you look like a b*tch.

Get comfortable like we’re going to Prague or jail comfortable?

He’s using the agency as his own personal hit squad.

Hit this meatball like a freight train.

Whatever they are paying you, it is not enough.

Well, that was unexpected.

Make him dead.

Would someone mind shooting the man handcuffed to the bench?

Extra 10 million for the first guy to put a bullet in this ken doll’s brain.

This is quite possibly the most spectacular failure in this history of covert ops.

Hello, my sexy Tamil friend.

What I do can’t be taught.

We need a ride. I call not trunk.

I’m gonna bleed out while we have this conversation.

Good news is he missed the liver and the kidney.

If he can walk, honey, it’ll be through those double doors over there.

Failing upwards doesn’t qualify as success.

Want to make an omelette, you gotta kill some people.

You’re making me destroy a historic building here.

I don’t care about the money anymore. These are not honorable people.

You pick those feet up or you’re gonna get dead real quick.

I think I’m better than you. What do you say, Six? Wanna dance?

This is just another Thursday.

Kick his a**.

Good news is, if you behave, I’ll let you out to play sometimes.

Does this plan involve me living?

Remove yourself from my personal space.

It is very dangerous for you to start thinking for yourself.

Am I allowed to chew gum in here?

The novel, Where the Crawdads Sing, was released in the summer of 2018 to much acclaim and quickly made its way onto book-lovers’ shelves after Reese Witherspoon included it in her book club list. Its popularity has been elevated recently with the new film adaptation of it that even includes a Taylor Swift original song called Carolina. However, they always say the book is better than the film, as sometimes the movie adaptation is forced to change things in the story, which results in many movie vs book differences. Let’s take a look at the Where the Crawdads Sing movie vs book differences.

Where the Crawdads Sing Movie Quotes

Where The Crawdads Sing Movie vs Book Differences

The following content in the article will discuss Where the Crawdads Sing book and movie spoilers and go over the differences in each. So, proceed, but heed the warning that all twists and turns and big reveals will come to light in the following post.

Letter From Ma

In the book, Ma sends a letter around a year after leaving the swamp and not looking back. She sends a letter to the marsh address, where only Pa and Kya are left to reside. Kya finds the letter and opens it, although she is unable to read it to know what Ma wrote. She then leaves the opened letter on the table for Pa to find.

In the Where the Crawdads Sing movie version, the mail carrier arrives at the home and gives the letter to Pa while Kya is present. Pa then opens it, becomes enraged, and burns the letter in front of Kya, who gets upset and yells at him for doing so.

How Kya Met Tate

In the book, Kya first meets Tate after everyone but her Pa leaves her. She takes out the boat, gets lost, and bumps into Tate, who informs her that he used to fish with her brother. Later, she finds out that she used to be friends with Tate through a portrait her mother paints of the two together at a very young age.

In the Where the Crawdads Sing movie version, the two bump into each other while she is lost in the boat in the same fashion. However, she recognizes him as her brother’s friend already. There is even a flashback to when the two knew each other as smaller children, and he defends her against her abusive father.

Kya Goes To School

In the novel, the truant officer, Mrs. Culpepper, visits the marsh home and discovers Kya, who she takes to school with the promise of a hot meal. Mrs. Culpepper has a later part in the book when she becomes a jury member in Kya’s trial.

In the Where the Crawdads Sing movie version, Kya attends school on her own after Mabel and Jumpin’ tell her the school publishes its daily lunch menu in the paper and Kya is craving a hot meal. Mrs. Culpepper’s character never makes an appearance in the film.

The Timeline of Kya’s Book

In the book, Kya publishes her book after Tate returns from college and offers to help her find a publisher to make extra money. She then receives the $5,000 advance on her book and fixes up her little home in the marsh. Later, she goes to town to find out who the house’s name was under and finds out that back taxes are owed, and whoever pays the taxes can then own the property. She then pays the taxes with the money already earned from her published book.

In the Where the Crawdads Sing movie version, Kya learns about the back taxes earlier on and then decides to publish a book to pay for the taxes. Before Tate left for college, he gave her a list of publishers to contact about a possible book deal with her work. After discovering back taxes were owed on her property, she decides to contact the publishers to get a book deal and afford the taxes on the property.

Kya Discovers Chase Is Engaged

In Where the Crawdads Sing, Kya discovers Chase is engaged after buying a newspaper in town. She then returns home to read it and flips the page to a full on article about his engagement.

In the movie, Kya runs into Chase and his friends, who are accompanied by two females. Chase introduces Kya to his friends and a female (the girl who wore pearls) then informs Kya of her engagement to Chase.

Killer Revealed

In the book, after Kya’s death, Tate finds under the floorboard in the kitchen some clippings saved by Kya of her favorite poet, Amanda Hamilton. He realized then that Kya had in fact been the one who had published the poem, using the pen name Amanda Hamilton. He then discovered a poem called The Firefly, which details taking the life of an ex-lover. Tate then realizes Kya did indeed kill Chase, and then he discovers the shell necklace Kya had taken from his body after the murder.

In the Where the Crawdads Sing movie version, after Kya’s death, Tate finds a book of Kya’s, and hidden inside the book is the shell necklace Kya had taken from Chase’s body after he was murdered.

Amazon Prime Video’s Don’t Make Me Go drops on the streaming service tomorrow, July 15th. Don’t Make Me Go Movie Quotes

Don’t Make Me Go Parents Guide

In Don’t Let Me Go: When single father Max discovers he has a terminal disease, he decides to try and cram all the years of love and support he will miss with his teenage daughter Wally into the time he has left with her. With the promise of long-awaited driving lessons, he convinces Wally to accompany him on a road trip from California to New Orleans for his 20th college reunion, where he secretly hopes to reunite her with her mother who left them long ago. A wholly original, emotional and surprising journey, Don’t Make Me Go explores the unbreakable, eternal bond between a father and daughter from both sides of the generational divide with heart and humor along for the ride.

Don’t Make Me Go Age Appropriate Parents Guide

Let’s take a look at what parents need to know before letting their kids watch Don’t Make Me Go.

Language: Don’t Make Me Go contains some profanity scattered throughout. Lookout words include: sh*t, a**, d*ck, b*st*rd, and d*mn.

Mature Content: The film deals with some difficult themes, such as terminal illness, parental abandonment, and the death of a family member. Characters are shown participating in sexual acts, and thrusting is shown. There is also one scene, shown twice (once at the beginning and once towards the end of the film), of a completely nude older couple, which reveals a full frontal shot and viewers can see a character’s penis and another character’s breasts. There are also scenes showing underage teens consuming alcohol.

Overall Thoughts

Don’t Make Me Go is more than just a father-daughter bonding story. It excels with its plot twists, which I will avoid discussing, as to not spoil the film for audiences. Yet, it is in these moments where the true heart and emotion of the film are revealed. The film begins by informing viewers, “You’re not going to like the way this story ends, but I think you’re going to like this story.” And it is in the last 15 minutes of the movie that holds those words true. Viewers will be angry and may not like the direction the story goes, but one thing is for sure, they won’t see it coming. Then the film gives viewers one more dig, an “I told you so.” “I said you weren’t going to like the way this story ends.“

What makes Don’t Make Me Go work so well is its casting choices. John Cho plays Max Park, a dull single dad who tries to balance the “fun” with his overprotectiveness. When he finds out he has a tumor, he sets off to let loose a bit, be a “cooler” dad, and on the way, teach some life lessons that hopefully stick with his teenage daughter. The chemistry between Cho and Mia Isaac, who plays Cho’s daughter Wally in the film, has a very authentic and genuine feel, as if the two have known each other their entire lives. Isaac, in turn, is fantastic at capturing those teenage moments and emotions, as she battles with gaining independence and also with the abandonment of her mother. It is through these performances that viewers become invested in the story and outcome.

Netflix’s Don’t Make Me Go is a charming coming-of-age story that is relatable to both younger audiences, who can easily put themselves in those teenage shoes, and parents of teens, who are struggling with the same balance in their relationship as Max. Some of the subject matter can be difficult, considering the premise of the film, but this is precisely what gives it gravity and clarity of vision. Regardless, I believe this will resonate with audiences in the best possible way.

Don’t Make Me Go Movie Quotes

You’re not going to like the way this story ends, but I think you’re going to like this story.

Selling insurance gives everyone a headache.

Looks like he twisted a testicle.

He kissed you and you nearly fainted.

If I wanted your opinion, I’ll take my d*ck out of your mouth and ask for it.

Your dad kind of sucks.

You’ve never did stuff like this before you started seeing him.

There’s a large chance you don’t survive the surgery.

I went to the doctor today. She said the headaches will go away if you’re nicer to me.

I’m not the girl you booty call sometimes because I’m great at relationships.

Are we still gonna have sex?

Why are you suddenly so obsessed with my future?

That’s your dream? To go get mixed up in a civil war?

Let’s see how fun it can be to lose some money.

Not knowing when to stop is how people lose everything.

And suddenly you’re you again.

Do not close your eyes ever.

Nothing says Texas like a big a** sombraro.

How many times do you get to see shooting stars in the middle of nowhere, Texas?

What did you do to her?

What happened to you being a kid I could trust?

I wish you could’ve seen what I saw last night. The whole sky was filled with shooting stars.

What’s with the posture police?

Are you stress sweating? Is this what a midlife crisis is?

Why aren’t you up there reliving your glory days?

It’s a real beautiful story, we got divorced a few years ago now.

We only speak through lawyers now.

When did he get so boring?

We had a fight. We had a lot of fights.

It’s actually a bone tumor near my brain.

What else that happened between you guys? You’re the one that stayed with me.

It’s probably what made her fall in love with me.

I want her to like me.

Every father should teach his daughter how to dance before her wedding day.

It’s not like I’m gonna pick her over you or something.

A good man will take me dancing.

We can’t go in unannounced. You go in and prep her.

You are really hard to find. Witness protection could use some tips from you.

You’re her only family other than me.

Is she a crackhead or something?

Because I needed to be further scared by this day.

I didn’t have a plan. I just didn’t want to see you sad.

You dragged me this whole time.

I thought I wasn’t supposed to want someone that doesn’t want me back.

I know this sucks. I get it, okay?

Maybe you shouldn’t have an elderly car then.

I am sorry that I am dying and everything in this world isn’t about you.

You don’t bet on yourself; you don’t believe you can win.

If you do nothing, you definitely die. But if you do something, you possibly have a chance to live. How is that not a clear choice?

You don’t get to unless you are willing to take a chance.

Please, dad. I’d bet on you.

I don’t think he’d take me dancing. I don’t think I’d take him dancing.

Don’t be a weenie.

I said you weren’t going to like the way this story ends.

You know how much it would’ve sucked if I went out a week earlier?

Are you really going to judge a dead girl?

As for my mom, I forgive me. I mean, she was just doing the best she could.

My dad taught me a lot of things in life, but I finally taught him something. To take a chance.

Does your afterlife fantasy really involve seeing me after two days without a shower?

You did the right thing.

His life is going to be a long one, a pretty good one even. And now, he’s going to live it to the fullest.

See, dad, I know it’s not all about me.

Love Accidentlly Movie Quotes

To the victor go the spoils.

The two of you bicker just like my parents. I love it.

Congradulations on turning another year older and it shows.

It’s time for some new blood.

That’s practically an enternity in Jason time.

I think it’s time for us to break up.

She thinks in order to reach my potential I need to be unattached.

I’m being dumped on my birthday.

I hate technology.

My whole life’s a cliche.

You’re like the break-up whisperer.

I know you think you’re here with me, but you’re really not.

My heart feels like it was torn out of my chest, thrown on the ground, and stomped on.

It happens. To be honest, it’s happening to me too.

I should go wallow in my misery for awhile.

I’m getting that promotion.

I’m your best friend. How do you not know my number?

Virtual rebound girl.

Who remembers anyone’s number anymore?

To be honest, I’d rather just talk to you.

I thought it was cool how you put your feelings out there like that.

Sometimes I have these dreams about my dad, and when I wake up, I realize I’ve lost him all over again.

Why do people have to get old?

You don’t need to drive a Mazerrati to know how to sell one.

Do you ever feel like the world is conspiring against you?

Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.

Don’t concern yourself with the wrong things.

I really like what we have.

Wine isn’t exactly my forte.

What if I’m finally realizing it is what’s on the inside?

Is this what this is? Some kind of test?

If I get this promotion, it will feel like I’ve finally made it.

There’s no reason to make this any worse than it has to be.

There are worse things to be in this world than a good friend.

Don’t worry about it. This was more important.

Is this some kind of self-help exercise?

I don’t want a future that doesn’t have you in it.

I guess you can say we’ve just been dealing with each other a little differently lately.

Nobody works harder than this lady here, I can promise you that.

I’m done running away from commitment.

I should be happy, right?

I think there’s something real here, between you and me.

You two are definitely made for each other.

There’s something I wanted to say. Good luck.

When this is all done, I never want to talk to you again.

Although it looks like I’m in complete control, I’m not.

Maybe it’s not just about living in the moment. Maybe you need to be invested, like her.

You’d be fortunate to have her on your team.

I really like that young man.

Together, I knew you’d make magic.

I’m sorry. But I’m not sorry it turned out to be you on the other end of this. I miss you.

If I was clever, I would’ve seen it a long time ago.

Netflix’s Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight drops on the streaming service today, July 14th. The series brings back Jack Black, voicing the Dragon Master himself, Po. Previous seasons have carried on without Black, and when asked what brought the iconic voice back to the franchise, director Peter Hastings simply stated it was the pandemic. I guess there is one thing good that we can say came out of the pandemic years. Check out the details in my parents guide review.

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Parents Guide

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight follows Po once again on a new adventure to save the world. The once-celebrated warrior of China must redeem his lost reputation and team up with an English knight called the Wandering Blade who has come from England to seek Po’s help to stop a pair of notorious weasels.

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight Age Appropriate Parents Guide

Let’s take a look at what parents need to know before letting their kids watch Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight.

Language: Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight contains mild language, with the strongest words you will come across including: idiot, dopey, and stupid.

Mature Content: The series is on the same line as the previous films and series in the franchise. Characters are engaged in hand-to-hand (or paw-to-paw) combat, as well as wielding weapons and swords. The characters are also put into dangerous conditions.

Overall Thoughts

Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight is yet another animated series starring everyone’s favorite martial arts panda. This one picks up the story after the events of the most recent Kung Fu Panda series, The Paws of Destiny, and both are set after the last lineal movie, Kung Fu Panda 3. Jack Black reprises his role as Po for the first time in a television series for this wildly popular franchise, and that’s a good thing. After all, no one could capture the same zany, wise-cracking nature of the Dragon Warrior as well as he could.

Po, having been named Dragon Master after all his previous exploits, is tasked with protecting China from all threats. He may have finally met his match when a couple of dastardly weasels steal a magical gauntlet, a beloved artifact with great power. Although it seems a bit harsh after all he has done up to this point, Po is stripped of his title and is now shunned by the people he loves. Soon, Po meets up with a shadowy figure who is surprisingly well equipped to match Po with fighting skills, blow for blow. This turns out to be the mysterious Wandering Blade, a warrior from faraway England who is on a quest to find the same weasels that stole the gauntlet. Voiced by singer Rita Ora, The Wandering Blade (as she is known) is more serious and steadfast than Po, and so ensues a clash of styles and philosophies on how to track down and capture the friends as they decide to team up and set out to find them and the artifact.

The animation is on par for a series animated by DreamWorks, but you can tell the budget is definitely not the same as for the feature films. It even seems like the lesser characters are glossed over in many scenes compared to Po, who just looks sharper and crisper than the others. Even the landscapes of China that looked gorgeous scene after scene in the movies are subdued and lack character here, and the battles are OK, but just not up to the caliber of their film counterparts. These issues will be virtually non-existent for the target demographic of children, however, who will just be glad to see more of the high-kicking fluffball in action. James Hong also returns as Po’s father Ping, but noticeably absent are the Furious Five, who have played major roles in much of the franchise to date. Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight serves mainly as an excuse to squeeze more out of a beloved franchise, and although there is some value in it for fans of the franchise, a thin plot and cheap animation make it noticeably degraded. Whether this was an idea for a fourth movie that just didn’t get greenlit and ended up as a lackluster series is beyond me, but it would be a shame to have it end by watering down everything people loved about it in the first place.

Where The Crawdads Sing Age Appropriate Parents Guide

Characters are shown hitting and slapping children until they are bloody and bruised, as well as domestic abuse. A dead body is shown. Overall Thoughts

Where the Crawdads Sing sticks very closely to the plot in the book, which is filled with twists and turns. It will have audiences on the edge of their seats and guessing until the very last minute. The novel begins in the same way the movie does, with the discovery of a body, and the film continues to follow the novel, telling the story in a nonlinear fashion. While fans of the novel will appreciate the way the filmmakers stick to this sort of storytelling, it may confuse viewers with the many flashbacks in Kya’s life, starting with her as a very young child, working its way back to the present day.

Where the Crawdads Sing succeeds in its casting choices. Daisy Edgar-Jones, who is best known for her recent performance in Fresh, plays the lead role as Kya. Not only does Edgar-Jones have the look for the part, but she also perfectly portrays the sweetness and simpleness of Kya, along with the awkwardness that is needed for the character. There was a bit of a disconnect between the older Kya and the younger version, played by Jojo Regina. Kya is supposed to be shy, timid, and a bit passive. However, young Kya was a bit too feisty in the role, and it didn’t mesh well with the way the story was told. Taylor John-Smith (Hunter Killer) plays Tate and exudes the good-heartedness and kind demeanor that represent his character. Bad boy-rich kid Chase Andrews is played by Harris Dickinson, who has the perfect mix of charm and attractiveness, while also clearly exhibiting those bad boy qualities needed for the antagonist role.

Where the Crawdads Sing is a visual love letter to the North Carolina marshlands where the story is set. Director Olivia Newman highlights not only the serene and peaceful lands, but also the creatures that reside there. Glorious wide-angle shots, quickly zooming in to close-ups with flocks of birds circling above. The pacing of the story, along with viewing the majestic nature from Kya’s perspective, results in an artistic view of the area brought to the big screen.

It wasn’t an easy task to adapt Where the Crawdads Sing from the page to the screen, especially considering the book is not the best literature out there, but Newman succeeds in telling a compelling story while also capturing the essence of the book and its characters. This is not a film for the masses, so I am not sure how successful it will be at the box office, but it is a welcome break from all the summer blockbusters. Kids will want to skip it, but this movie is perfect for date nights and older couples wanting a change of pace from the usual fare.

Where the Crawdads Sing Movie vs Book Differences

Where The Crawdads Sing Movie Quotes

Marsh is not swamp; marsh is a space of light.

Then within the marsh, here and there, is true swamp.

A swamp knows all about death.

Where’s his footprints? No fingerprints. No tracks.

My brothers always told me that Marsh Girl is the missing link.

Is she a scientist or a witch?

I’ve taken the liberty of putting myself forward to help you.

They don’t call you by that name. They call you Marsh Girl.

I can’t help you unless I know you.

People forget about the creatures that lie in shells.

I had a family once. They call me Kya.

Ma never came back, and everyone else was quick to leave the same way.

If you are in trouble, go deep into the marsh where the crawdads sing.

I learned from the mistakes of the others how to live with him.

I didn’t know which way was home.

There was something about that boy that eased the tightness in my chest.

I woke up on the right side of dirt.

Plenty kids go to school without shoes.

You have just as much of a right to be there.

Reckon I was better off learning from the wild.

For awhile, Pa was good to me.

She ain’t ever coming back. You hear me?

Ain’t isn’t even a real word.

And then one day, he was gone.

Being completely alone was a feeling so vast, it echoed.

I didn’t know how to do life without grits.

He didn’t say nothing about being careful.

If we lose, we lose big.

It is easier to lay blame on an outsider than it is to rely on facts.

How do you know birds?

I didn’t know words could hold so much.

I miss them.

I searched for an explanation of why a mother would leave her offspring.

Sometimes I feel so invisible, I wonder if I’m here at all.

Life can change in a second.

You can’t live alone in the marsh forever.

It wasn’t your fault.

Am I your girlfriend now?

It’s more dangerous for you, you understand?

The only constant in nature is change.

You can’t run away from every whipstitch.

You’re going to forget about me.

Whenever I stumbled, the marsh caught me.

Five years for my heart to open its shell again.

You’re something else, ain’t ya?

I know you think I’m trash, but I’m worth more than a picnic.

It’s like having a friend your whole life, but you never saw their full face.

You the real deal, ain’t ya?

What do you want with me?

I was no longer lonely. That seemed enough.

He told me if my friend really knew me, they wouldn’t be my friends.

The marsh was our secret.

I want you to know that I’m going to take care of you.

You’ll be with me. I know everything.

It will feel better for you later, the more you do it.

There’s better ways than this.

You weren’t man enough to face me.

I thought I’d have to choose between you and everything else.

I’ll be sorry for the rest of my life.

I had to do life alone, but I knew that.

People don’t stay.

You didn’t have a family your whole life, and there is nothing I can do to give you that back.

The Marsh Girl thinks she’s too good for you now.

I need you. I really need you.

Wilder than ever.

I’ll kill you.

I finally understood why Ma had to leave.

One thing I learned from Pa, these men have to have the last punch.

Being isolated was one thing; living in fear quite another.

I will never live like that, a life wondering when the last fist will fall.

Don’t let him ruin this for you.

I ain’t gonna do anything to make this worse.

I don’t know if there is a dark side to nature.

I never hated them. They hated me.

You’ve always been kind to me, even as a child. I never forgot.

It’s time, at last, for all of us to be fair to the Marsh Girl.

Always that hope that one day I could share it with the one person I’ve ever truly loved.

Aren’t we already? Like geese.

He loved you so much.

I hope when it’s time for me to leave, I’ll go quick and easy without making too much noise.

The marsh knows all about death.

Sometimes, for prey to live, its predator must die.

I am the marsh now.

I am a firefly.

That’s where you’ll always find me, way back yonder, where the crawdads sing.
