My two kids absolutely LOVE animals! My seven and four year olds still pretend to be one animal or another most days. In fact, we usually get a zoo membership each year because they never tire of seeing and learning about new creatures. So when we had the opportunity to use the Tiny Love Gymini Kick & Play – City Safari baby play mat for baby Joy (coming this May), I was so excited!

She's going to love the fun of the animal theme. Plus, it's going to last for a long time too! It has a ton of hanging attractions for newborns, as well as snaps to create a border and a kick board that plays music when baby kicks it.

Then, when she starts to roll over, we can remove the hanging part of the mat really easily leaving just the mat. There are little flaps to play with and tug on and teethers to chew on keeping her busy and active during tummy time.

That kick board folds down too, so instead of kicking it, Joy will be able to hit or slap it during tummy time and still have her music.

I can even see using this mat for play & snack times as she grows into toddlerhood. In the mean time, before Joy comes, my silly older girls are having fun pretending to be a baby and testing it out. I think it's big sisters approved!

As mom, I think the Gymini Kick & Play is great because it's larger than most play mats allowing baby to play on for a longer time as she grows. It's also a great wipeable fabric! Our downstairs area is all hardwood floors so a large mat that is going to keep my baby girl playing and happy while off the hard floor and easy to clean is a win in my book.

Everything is "smart" these days.... even baby dolls! The Baby Amaze Learn to Talk & Read Baby Doll by vtech, is an interactive talking baby doll that learns to talk and actually "grows up." The baby starts in "newborn" mode and then the more you talk to her, the more words and phrases she learns and repeats.

The baby has a soft cuddly body with a well disguised battery pack inside. Her face, hands, and feet are hard plastic.

On her bib are three buttons. The first is a pic of a bottle, this is the "Caring" button. If you press this button the baby will tell you what she "needs." Milk, Pacifier, story, etc.
The next button is "Talk With Me," it has the letter A in a text bubbles. If you press this button you are are inviting the baby to talk to you. She will ask you a question and when you answer, she will try to repeat your answer.

The last button on her chest is the "Reading" button. When you press this one you can read aloud to the baby, listen and she will read aloud to you, or you can teach the baby to read.

Baby Amaze comes with 3 Vocabulary books: My Home, Food Fun, and Animals. These books are just like the board books you would buy to teach a real baby to talk by looking at pictures and teaching them the names. These are the books you can read to her, or she can read to you. There are over 70 words for her to learn!

The music button located on the babies belly plays music that the baby hums along too. While the music plays the babies bow also lights up.

Baby Amaze also comes with a bottle and pacifier. She will make sounds sucking on the pacifier and will also drink her bottle.
The baby can also be easily reset back to newborn mode so that your child can teach her again!

My daughter is only one. Currently her favorite things to do with the baby are listen to the music, watch the light up bow, and give her the bottle and pacifier.

Baby Amaze is perfect for my older daughter and younger daughter to play with together. My older daughter can read the books and both the baby doll and my one year old can repeat the words together. This gets a big kick out of everyone!

Guess who is learning in the process of teaching the doll to talk! It's a win win!

When my younger daughter is ready to be the "teacher," we can reset the baby doll to newborn mode and start again. This is definitely a great doll. The perfect mix of a cuddly baby and a learning toy. I would definitely recommend her as a great gift for a special girl. I am planning on purchasing the compatible Baby Amaze 3-in-1 Care & Learn Stroller which is sold separately.

Know Your Ingredients: What to Look for in Skin Care Products

Every few weeks, it seems like you read about a new ingredient that you should avoid at all costs: a new way your lotion or your shampoo or your soap is poisoning you. All those news stories have lead to a boom in organic and natural beauty products, which is great…but can you trust all those leafy green labels and bold “all natural” titles?

If you’d like to expand your beauty routine and try out some new products, here are a few things to look for…and a few things to avoid!

Labels and Packaging

The package is the first step in determining whether a lotion or cream is something you want on your skin every day. Your first instinct is probably to go straight for the ingredients list, but there’s a few simple steps that can eliminate a product long before you slog through all those ingredients. When you’re checking out a new product, start with:

· “Natural” or “Organic. These words are always a good sign on the label, especially organic. Yes, they’re marketing buzzwords, but they often indicate a company dedicated to natural health and sustainability. Be wary of natural, all-natural, and nature-derived, though! Accordingto the experts at the Environmental Working Group, none of those terms are regulated: a lotion doesn’t have to meet any standards to slap “natural” on a label. It’s a good sign, but always check those ingredients!

· The Leaping Bunny logo. Grab your favorite lotion out of the bathroom and take a close look at the bottle. Do you see a little outline of a leaping bunny? If not, it may be time to look for a new moisturizer: that logo means that the product is not tested on animals. Not only is animal testing cruel and painful, modern chemistry has made it totally unnecessary. Check any new buy for the leaping bunny logo, or the label “cruelty free” before you add it to your haul.

· Fair Trade. The global marketplace has given us some downright magical new beauty products, from argan oil to shea butter to coconut oil. These are wonderful, nutritional, and all-natural ingredients…so of course there’s a catch! Ingredientslike argan and shea often come from small farming communities in third-world countries. While the demand is great for those small farmers, you may pay more for a bottle of lotion than the farmers made for 250 pounds of oil. Fair trade products simply guarantee that the growers were fairly paid for their labor: you’ve probably seen the label on coffee and chocolate, but it’s just as important in beauty and skin care.

The Ingredients List

Now for the fun part – that ingredients list. The common knowledge says “if you can’t pronounce it, don’t buy it,” but plenty of those long, complicated names are entirely safe, and often entirely organic! There are a few red flags to steer clear of, though. Check your ingredients list for some of these warning signs:

· Parabens and PEGS. Parabens are a class of preservatives that often turn up in products with lots of plant extracts. They prevent natural ingredients from going bad, but they also have some nasty side effects if they build up over time. On labels, they’ll be listed as a number of different chemicals like benzylparaben or methylparaben. As soon as you spot that “paraben” ending, steer clear!

· SLS. SLS is short for sodium laurel sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate, common detergents that make soaps and shampoosfoamy. They’re non-toxic, but they can be very drying and irritating, especially to sensitive skin and hair. You don’t need to run screaming from SLS, since they’re often present only in very low concentrations. But if you have sensitive skin, take a minute to look up the SLS concentrations in a new product.

· Fragrance. Fragrance, which often appears on labels as “parfum,” is a tricky one. It’s a catch-all term that can refer to something as simple as rose oil…or it could be a complex cocktail of toxic ingredients. It’s an easy way for unscrupulous companies to hide dangerous ingredients on the label, so be wary of it. Keep in mind, if a scent comes from something simple and organic, like an essential oil, the label will just list that single ingredient, rather than a vague “fragrance” label.

Do Your Homework!

There are plenty of tips, tricks, and guides to help protect both your skin and your health, but none of these tips are guarantees. The best way to choose the best products is to do your own research, and there are tons of sources available to help you. There are also a range of reputable companies out there that provide healthy, natural organic skin care with clear, easy-to-find ingredient lists: HonestCompany’s beauty line is a great example. Don’t let yourself be misled or overwhelmed by sneaky labeling and false advertising: your best resource for finding safe, healthy organic skin products is right between your ears!

Tiny Love Dual Motion Developmental Mobile + Giveaway {$60 ARV}

My first two children had fancy matching mobiles set up in their cribs weeks before they were born. Number three... not so much! Luckily, she spent the first few months in her bassinet so it didn't really matter. Then came the dreaded transition to the crib. It was rough. Thankfully the Tiny Love Dual Motion Developmental Mobile came into my life!

I have never seen a mobile that was so versatile . Of course, you can set the mobile to spin like a traditional mobile, this is called the Soothing Motion. The other option is the Hide & Seek Developmental Motion. While set in this mode the cute little characters do not just spin around and around. They rotate to where they actually disappear from view for a second behind the patterned pieces. They are playing Hide & Seek!

I imagine this is what keeps Baby E watching so intently. Like a never ending game off Peek-a-boo right in her crib.

The mobile has 5 music choices with 15 different melodies, including the life-saving white noise. The best part is that the music lasts 40mins, so it doesn't cut off just as baby is falling asleep and wake them up. If I am putting Baby E down for a nap, I use the white noise or one of the other calming sounds. If I am putting away her laundry or straightening her room, and she is hanging out in her crib, we jam to the Reggae!

The night-light is also a great feature. It is just enough light to illuminate the mobile without being distracting.

You can choose to play the mobile with the light on or off. You can also play the mobile without any music at all, or play just the music. There are a lot of options, including adjustable volume and mute control buttons.

When it is no longer safe to have the mobile within baby's reach in the crib. The top "mobile" portion can be removed and the music, lights, and piano toy can remain for baby to play with!

The toy can even be easily removed for portable piano play.

This multi-use mobile would be a great addition to any nursery. It will definitely last longer and be used more than most traditional mobiles, and it comes Baby E approved!

Apert Syndrome
Age 9

A favorite among his school peers, “delightfully mischievous” Michael was born with Apert syndrome, a rare genetic disorder causing birth defects such as abnormal head and limb development.

At just 5 months old, Michael underwent major surgery to expand and reshape his skull to make room for his developing brain. Thirteen more surgeries followed, including procedures to adjust his jaw and separate his fused fingers and toes. With so many treatments, Michael’s mom dubbed medical terminology as the family’s “third language” in addition to the English and Spanish they already speak.

Michael has a bright future thanks to his continued treatment and surgeries at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare. Michael enjoys playing guitar, drums and recorder and can’t wait to show off his skills at school music concerts. He also likes to ride bikes and play soccer. Recently, Michael joined the Boy Scouts and is excited to be a Cub Scout.

P&G provided us with the Walmart Gift Card and information to facilitate this product review.

With a family of 5, I look for savings anytime I can. When I find a good sale on my favorite products, I stock up. Walmart has their Stock And Save event through April 30th. Check out the savings on some of your favorite P&G products.

With three young children, I deal with stains on a daily basis. Tide is my go-to laundry detergent. I was excited to finally try the Tide Simply Clean. I love these big containers. Hopefully at this size, one will last a while! They had a huge display in the middle of the aisle.

We also deal with messes on an hourly basis. :) Bounty does an amazing job at cleaning up what our kids destroy. I only purchase value size packs of Bounty since we go through them so fast.

We are finally out of diapers, but Pampers has always been the only brand of disposable diapers that we trust. There are some great diaper deals in the Stock and Save Event. Our three year old still doesn't understand a little toilet tissue goes a long way, so we go through that like crazy too!

My, oh my, how things change. The new Cozy Coupe Sport by Little Tikes is awesome! My two older children are 9 and 7, so it has been a few years since we had a cozy coupe - I love the new features. The Cozy Coupe Sport arrived in pieces, but get this, there were NO TOOLS REQUIRED. It's still made out of the same super durable plastic, and the same sturdy wheels. Everything now just snaps into place.

My husband was gone with my son at baseball so I decided to tackle this on my own. Everything went together pretty smoothly. There truly were no "real" tools needed, although they did provide you with a plastic tool to make the job easier. I had it all together in about 20mins, but I wasn't strong enough to push the top bars into place completely. They give you a "helpful tip" to rub dish soap on the pieces to help them slide together easier, and my husband had no problem pushing them into place. Once it was together we started noticing the all the new features. The wheels now have a rubber strip down the middle which gives the car much better traction and less of the loud noise while rolling on the sidewalk.

Another feature is that there is now a fold up handle. No more sore back from trying to bend over and push the car! This is super handy if your child is too small to push the car on their own, or if you're trying to keep them heading in a certain direction. The car can now be used for family walks in place of a stroller.

When not in use, the handle folds down into the car and completely disguises itself as an accent piece.

The best feature of the new Cozy Coupe Sport is the removable floor. So many times I remember my older children being pushed and their feet getting caught up under the car. Now when the child is going to be pushed, you can insert the floor.

When they want to propel with their feet, you can remove the floor. It's so easy the child can do it on their own.

The Cozy Coupe Sport has two working doors, and of course, the beloved squeaky horn.

There is also a molded cup holder in the back where your child can put their sippy cup for long walks or hot days.

Add in the cool "moon roof" and your child is cruising in style. The Cozy Coupe Car has been a favorite toy with kids for a long time. With these new features, I feel that every "issue" I had with the old Cozy Coupe has been addressed. I think with updating all these new features, Little Tikes has ensured the Cozy Coupe Sport will stand the test of time, and continue to be a favorite childhood toy. We are an extremely active family and spend as much time outdoors as possible. I like for my kids to have comfortable clothes that they can play freely in. Our son is into soccer, so he chose this shirt. I feel like the sizing is spot on. He's starting to wear 10s, and this is a 10.

I decided to go up a size for my girls to make sure they could wear them all summer, and that may have been a mistake for my oldest. They run very true to size, so the 7 (she normally wears a 6) is a bit large on my oldest daughter. I would much rather something be a little large than too small so that they can get more wear out of it!

The girls had a ball "modeling" their new outfits. I'm pretty sure she was doing ballet here.

There are so many styles that are perfect for our on-the-go lifestyle, but are still absolutely adorable.

As you can see in the picture below, the Hop 'N' Roll line allows my kids the freedom to move anyway they want. These outfits are so perfect for school, the back yard, and anything in between!

Maxi-Cosi Mico NXT Infant Car Seat + Maxi-Taxi Infant Car Seat Carrier

Maxi-Cosi provided us with a Mico NXT infant car seat and Target gift card to purchase the Maxi-Taxi so that we could share our thoughts.

I recently gave birth to my third child. She was totally planned, but just took a little longer to get here. My older two children are 9 & 7. A lot of things have changed in the baby scene since I had them. With the first two it was easy, I basically did everything the same for number 2 as I did for number 1. Now that I am starting over as a seasoned Mom, I am willing to try some new things. First off was an infant carseat. Since the car seat I used for my older two was now expired, I needed to shop for a new one. There are so many new options out there that were not available almost 10 years ago when I bought my first car seat and stroller. I was so excited to be chosen to try out the Maxi-Cosi Mico NXT infant car seat and Maxi-Taxi, so was sweet E.

I am constantly on the go with my two older children and all their sports, school, and activities. The Maxi-Cosi Mico NXT infant car seat fits perfectly onto the Maxi-Cosi Maxi-Taxi, and is an instant on-the-go stroller. It is so easy to just pull the carseat out and snap onto the lightweight frame without ever waking the baby.

The Mico NXT infant car seat slides on and clips into these little arms on the side of the Maxi Taxi.

Of course, having three kids now, I have to always have the third row in position in my SUV. This leaves very little room for a bulky stroller. The most important feature in a stroller is that it fits in my Tahoe. Thank goodness the Maxi-Taxi folds up quick and easy. I did have to remove the cupholder to get it to fit, but that is super simple to add and remove.

The Maxi-Taxi is really simple to unfold. It does require both hands since you have to pull the levers on the the handles to open and close it. Between the handle levers is the "parent tray." I love that it zippers closed. I can keep my keys and cell phone in there safely out of view of others. I also feel better storing the babies pacifier in there, it just feels cleaner than out in the open on a stroller tray.

The full size cup holder is another feature I truly appreciate. Gone are the days of a small molded “cup holder” indent that really didn’t even hold a cup in place. This one has plenty of room and is also removable if you do not want to use it.

There is a basket on the bottom where I can toss my diaper bag and we're off. The basket is HUGE. Like seriously enough room to hold more than just the diaper bag.

This stroller is also so easy to maneuver. The front wheels swivel or lock into place by simply pressing the lever. The bake brake is SUPER easy to use. You just press the red side to lock and the blue side to unlock. No trying to stick your toes under and lift like I remember with my older kids! I told you things have sure come a long way!

If you already own a Maxi-Cosi Mico or Prezi carseat, then this stroller is a must have. If you haven't purchased a carseat, you can visit Maxi-Cosi to view the entire line, then be sure to get the Maxi-Taxi to go with it!

Shopping At Target.com For The Maxi-Cosi Maxi-Taxi Infant Car Seat Carrier

I used a Target Gift Card provided by Maxi-Cosi to purchase the Maxi-Cosi Maxi-Taxi from Target.com on Feb 17, 2015 so that I could share my experience. The process was quite simple. I already have a Target.com account, but if you do not it's very easy to set one up, and saves time on future orders. I logged in to my Target account. After logging in I can easily add items to my cart by clicking on the add to cart button. I added the Maxi-Taxi to my cart and then proceeded to check out. Since I have an account, my preferred shipping address was already in the system. I could easily add a new address if needed, but I was all set for this purchase. After verifying my address we move to billing.

There is a separate choice for shopping with a Target Gift card. You can even use up to four gift cards on your order. You enter the card number where requested and then scratch off the protected backing to reveal the Access #. Once you enter these you can review and finalize your order.

I was told the product was on backorder and would arrive between 3/6- 3/24. I proceeded to order.

As soon as I ordered the Maxi-Taxi, I received an email receipt stating all the info of my order, including the backorder information.

The next day I received an email from Target.com informing me that the delivery would be a little later than previously stated. The new delivery dates were between 4/6-4/22. I was given the option to cancel my order or continue to wait. I was told I would not be charged until the order was shipped. I decided to wait for the item to be in stock.

On 3/29/15 I received an email stating the Maxi-Taxi was on it's way! Included in this email was a tracking number to track my shipment. It arrived quickly on 4/2. I also received an email on 4/2 stating that my package was delivered. This was super handy since I was not home and I messaged my husband for him to bring it into the house. Even though the item took a while to deliver, I did receive it before the scheduled delayed delivery date. I also felt completely in the loop and in control with my order. The multiple emails and updates were greatly appreciated. I love to shop at Target, and the ease of shopping at home can't be beat! I highly recommend shopping at Target.com.

Spring is officially here, and we are loving it! I have switched over the kids' wardrobes and have been shopping for new spring clothes. OshKosh BGosh is one of my favorite kids' clothing stores. I usually shop online for OshKosh BGosh, but we have one about 1 1/2 hours away and were shopping there about two weeks ago. They had so many adorable outfits that I wanted.

The tables had several different options for Isabella's clothes, and it was hard to choose just a few. I wanted something that would be easy for her to wear at school.

I have a thing for anchors, so I naturally fell in love with this. Money saving tip - the straps are adjustable, so I bought a size or two up and she can now wear it for a couple of years. They also had some anchor capris that I almost got - and still may go back for!

Margaux & May 100% Organic Cotton Muslin Blankets + Giveaway {Three Winners}

Having recently had my 3rd child, it has been quite fun trying out all the "new must haves" in baby land. These Marguax & May 100% organic cotton muslin blankets are definitely a "must have". I own a couple of other muslin blankets, which I love, but there is definitely something special about these. First off they are huge... like so big I am fighting off my big kids for them. They don't believe they are baby blankets, because they do not LOOK like baby blankets. They measure 47x47inches and are perfect to cover even my 10 year old. My middle child was a blanket baby in his past, and I could just see these blankets drawing him back! Of course, they are perfect for swaddling a baby and will definitely continue to be a special blanket as the child gets older.

I received the two pack of swaddle blankets. Neither is your typical "baby" blanket. The first blanket has a pretty, non-gender specific feather pattern. The feathers are a dark hunter green color.

The second is slightly animal print with splashes of turquoise. If this is your first baby or you plan on having more, no need to stress about pink or blue! These patterns will easily work perfect for every baby.

The best thing about these muslin blankets are that they are SO soft. They continue to get softer with each wash, which makes them perfect for babies. My daughter has already become quite attached to hers - its handy because while she won't take a pacifier she WILL suck on this blanket.
They are also super versatile. We live in Texas and the last thing I want to do is cover the baby with a blanket. Sadly it's a necessity to keep the sun off of her while heading to and from all of our activities (Poor third baby!). These blankets are perfect for draping over the carseat, and they still allow air to pass through. *Note there is no baby currently in carseat... for display purpose only!

I have also used them for a nursing cover. They are big enough to cover me completely while nursing on the go, and still light enough to not bother baby or get her too hot. Need a blanket for tummy time? It can do that as well! Plenty big enough for baby to roll around and still stay comfortably on the blanket. I told you they were awesome!

There are two things I am sure to grab when heading out the door.... diapers & one of these blankets. As long as I have those two things, I am seriously pretty much ready for anything (I always have a change of clothes in my car!).

They seem a bit pricy at first glance, but these are definitely cheaper than other Muslin blankets I have purchased, and their quality is right on par. If you're in the market for cute, soft, versatile swaddling blankets I would definitely give these 100% Organic Cotton Muslin Blankets a chance. I was SO excited when my friend Dee asked me to review this gorgeous bag, the Skip Hop Duet. I am a recent “New Mom” to a sweet baby girl. So much has changed since my older two were born, they are 7 & 9. Definitely gone are the days of frumpy, cheesy diaper bags! Right out of the box I was impressed with the color and material. There was a slight smell when I initially opened the plastic, but it has since dissipated and is now gone. The Taupe is gorgeous and the tiny diamond pattern makes it so stylish.

The material on the removable organizer is completely wipeable, which is a necessity for a diaper bag. The Tote itself although faux leather, looks and feels very high quality and durable. The fact that you receive two bags in one is awesome. The inner bag has everything you need in a diaper bag; multiple interior/exterior pockets and a changing pad. There is even a special cell phone pocket and hooks to attach your keys for easy accessibility. This bag could totally be used by itself with the cross body strap or attached to the stroller.

Now the best part! The entire zip close diaper bag fits INSIDE the stylish tote bag. There are little locks on the side to secure the diaper bag inside the tote.

When the bags are like this you have multiple options. You can use either the tote’s double handles, the cross body strap which also attaches to the tote bag. or the stroller straps. It’s the perfect way to “hide” the diaper bag when you’re feeling fancy. Or you could just save the stylish tote for yourself and use the diaper bag for baby.

I am not a “pack the house up” kind of Mom, but this bag has more than enough room for all the necessities. One of my favorite things is that the bag stands upright even when full. The sides of the tote are sturdy enough to keep its shape so the bag doesn’t flop over. This is especially important for me, because every time I set the bag down it doesn’t tip over and spill out.

After a roller coaster week of weather, we had a beautiful weekend. Umi Shoes sent each child a pair of shoes for spring and we were able to finally wear them. They have a fantastic variety of of absolutely adorable styles. I had such a hard time deciding on a pair for each child.

White sandals are a must for my girls during the spring/summer. They are extremely versatile and the kids can put them on by themselves. Umi Shoes has several great options, but I ultimately went with the Cady. It is available in white, silver, gold, and light pink. I feel like they are very true to size and the leather-lined footbeds are soft and comfortable.

My 5 year old is obsessed with silver shoes right now. The Ria II has a classic look and is available in 7 different colors! She can wear them with tights on cooler days, or by themselves as it continues to warm up. They look adorable with dresses and skirts or with her Matilda Jane ruffles.

Our son loves to dress up - suit, button down shirt, bow tie - the whole nine yards! He needed another pair of black shoes since his feet are growing like weeds. The Witton II is great for his suits or if he dresses a little more casually in khakis. They seem to be true to size and he says they are very comfortable.
