CODESYS V3.5 SP17 Patch 5 was released on October 28, 2022.

Unfortunately, this version contains a bug in the compiler related to parameter lists in libraries. Under certain circumstances, values changed by the user are not considered when the application is created. This can affect both values changed by the user and default values. The user, however, does not receive any indication of this problem. This can lead to unpredictable errors in the execution of the application. For example, data from buffers could be incompletely received or sent. This may also prevent the fieldbus from working correctly.

We are working on a corrected version and will inform you via our release channels as soon as it is available. We strongly recommend that you then replace all versions of V3.5 SP17 Patch 5 with the corrected version.

Patch Notes:

The introduction of modularization with CODESYS V3.5 SP17 has made it much more common to work with more than one installation of the CODESYS IDE on the same PC. As a consequence, a user might intentionally or accidentally make changes to a project using a newer version of CODESYS than the project should remain compatible to. CODESYS SVN did not yet handle this well in all operations and users could not easily control the desired storage version for a project under version control. This has been improved now and CODESYS SVN informs the user during operations if the storage version of the project changes. Also CODESYS SVN recognizes and prevents operations which might lead to an inconsistent state of the project.

Additionally, several major bugs have been fixed. Amongst others it was possible to corrupt a project when executing a sequence of copy, paste and rename operations on objects in the project.

The required CODESYS version has been raised to V3.5 SP17.

During the rollout of CODESYS V3 SP18 Patch 1, we discovered a bug that causes a breakdown of the installation when adding special add-ons. The problem was caused by an error in the build chain and the incorrect versioning of an interface. We have therefore stopped the rollout and will provide a corrected, but otherwise identical version CODESYS V3 SP18 Patch 2 in a few days. Please accept our apologies for the delay!

The numbers of subsequent patches will increase accordingly, i.e. the originally planned Patch 2 will become Patch 3.

Patch Notes:

A new editor is available for publishing variables in the OPC UA Server. It can be used by adding an "OPC UA Server" object to the "Communication Manager".

Allows selection of variables directly from the application. Using an explicit information model is not required.
Several independent symbol sets can be published, each using its own editor and configuration.
Successor to the "Symbol Configuration" object for new projects.

Additionally, there are several improvements to the OPC UA Datasource:

Connecting with servers which require authorization now supported
Setting up a signed & encrypted connection with servers has been simplified
Browsing of servers can be aborted if it takes very long
Support for variables of an enumeration type in the server. They are translated to an integer variable in the IEC application. Translation to an IEC enumeration is not yet supported.

CODESYS PROFINET was released on July 8, 2021 in version 4.1.0.0. Unfortunately, this version contains a bug that causes the fieldbus to stop after about 12.5 days (or a multiple of that, depending on the bus cycle period). We have now released a corrected version 4.2.2.0, which you can obtain via the CODESYS Installer.

We strongly advise you to replace all versions in the field from 4.1.0.0 on with this corrected version unless it is assured that your controller will operate for less than this period at a time.

CODESYS Control for Linux SL and CODESYS Control for Linux MC SL were released on March 1, 2012 in version 4.4. Unfortunately, this version contains a bug that can cause the runtime system to terminate itself at an unpredictable time. We have now released a corrected version 4.4.1, which you can obtain via CODESYS Store or the CODESYS Installer.

We strongly advise you to replace all versions 4.4 in the field with this corrected version 4.4.1. Other than the correction, the update does not contain any other changes.
