Preparations look to be underway for an Iraqi-led offensive to retake the city of Mosul from fighters of the so-called Islamic State.


The push to drive I-S from Iraq hinges on re-taking the northern headquarters of its self-proclaimed caliphate.

Mosul fell to I-S in 2014, displacing half a million people.

 

It's home to another 1.5 million.
