The next time you buy tomatoes from your local supermarket, take a moment to look where they have come from.


They might be among the first batch to go on sale from a unique farming operation set up in an area of Australia traditionally thought to be too arid to grow food.

 

The bold new project has set out to prove fruits and vegetables can be grown in the desert.

 

And it could help some of the world's most desolate areas secure food for the future.
