The lead up to the race was not ideal when a knee injury led him to spend two weeks on the couch before the race.
Prologue ended anyway with a strong 17th place to Thomas.
In the first stage he came in 1:56 behind the winner and finished in 43rd.

Second leg was perhaps the stage Thomas had the best expectations when it was a hilly stage and slopes suit him well.
But over the last hill is unable to keep up with front group, and with a tailwind to the finish, it was too far to catch them again.

Third stage was probably the one that Thomas considered as one of the toughest with a 17 kilometer long hill finish.

Here he came to a 20th place which he was very pleased with.
He also says that the landscape on this stage was incredibly nice and together with the position on the finish list helps to make it the stage he will remember best from the Tour of Tasmania in 2016.
