Health authorities are calling on residents of western Sydney to adhere to social distancing instructions and to conduct tests, to ensure that there are no cases of Corona virus.

In an interview with SBS Assyrian, Fairfield City Councilor Andrew Rohan reminded the residents of the area, to adhere to authorities instructions

“these are critical times for the region, and it is necessary for people to follow up and abide by the health instructions of authorities of New South Wales, as laws and regulations are changing rapidly according to developments”.

He added that we must know that even if there were no infections, it does not mean that there is no one case hundred percent, but there could be an infected person somewhere, which hasn’t been tested yet.

The person carrying the virus may not have symptoms of the disease, and if he or she contact other people, it may infect a lot, without knowing it. It is very necessary to get tested.

Mr. Rohan confirmed that there are four testing centers for Covid-19. There is clinic at Fairfield showground. A special unit at Fairfield Hospital, one at Cabramatta Community Center, and Fairfield GP Respiratory clinic in Fairfield town Center. These places are sufficient for residents of the area to conduct tests and ensure that they are free of the disease.

Regarding the manifestations of gatherings, whether at parties or funerals that exceed the authorities set number, he said the three instructions of, social distancing, hygiene and wearing masks, are very necessary, as they are legal orders and they are ethical as well. From the moral perspective, the ones who do not abide by the instructions, means they do not respect others. We must understand that these instructions are for the health of people, so one person has a virus may infects four hundred people, so it is very necessary to follow the instructions, he said.

He added, "We at Fairfield have not recorded a single case for three months, and it is one of the least affected areas in all of New South Wales, but this does not mean that we do not care." Therefore, it is necessary for everyone at weddings or funerals to abide by the instructions issued by health officials.
