Il finale mozzafiato ha visto i tifosi abbarbicati su ogni sedia di ogni caffè e ristorante nella celebre Lygon Street di Melbourne.
Questo angolo nella zona dedicata al cibo della città, conosciuta con affetto come la Little Italy di Melbourne, è esploso di gioia, rumore e colore.

Questo è stato il momento in cui i membri della diaspora italiana a Melbourne sono stati testimoni della storia, dopo aver visto i loro eroi del calcio vincere il titolo a seguito di una sequenza di rigori epica.
La partita stessa ha rispettato un copione che non avrebbe mai potuto essere scritto, riempito di scene drammatiche.
La serata era iniziata benissimo per l’Inghilterra allo stdio di Wembley, con l’inglese Luke Shaw che ha segnato il goal più veloce ad una finale degli Europei, dopo un minuto e 56 secondi.

Il punteggio alla fine del primo tempo era di 1-0.
Nel secondo tempo, Leonardo Bonucci ha pareggiato su calcio d’angolo.
Commentator: "An in-swinger. Bonucci on the move. Ball comes in low. And a flick on. And it is forced in in the end from very close range by Leo Bonucci and Italy are level. Il portiere italiano Gianluigi Donnarumma è diventato l’eroe, facendo la parata decisiva che ha consegnato all’Italia il primo titolo di Campione d’Europa dal 1968.
Il portiere è stato poi nominato Miglior Giocatore del torneo.
I festeggiamenti in Italia e nella città capitale Roma andranno avanti per giorni.

This time they're celebrating another major tournament victory - champions of the delayed Euro 2020 Championship.

The thrilling final had fans on the edge of every seat in every cafe and restaurant along Melbourne's popular Lygon Street.
This pocket of the city's food precinct, affectionately known as Melbourne's Little Italy, exploded with joy, noise and colour.

This was the moment that members of the Italian diaspora in Melbourne witnessed history, seeing their football heroes win the title following an epic penalty shootout.
The match itself played out a script that could not be written, filled with drama.
The night started so well for England at Wembley Stadium, with Englishman Luke Shaw scoring the fastest goal in a Euro final, at the one minute and 56 second mark.

The scoreline was 1-nil heading into half time.
In the second half, Italy's Leonardo Bonucci equalised from a set piece corner.

Neither team could deliver the breakthrough goal in Extra Time, so this tense final went to a penalty shootout.
Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma the hero, making a winning save to deliver Italy its first European Championship title since 1968.
He has been named the competition's Most Outstanding Player.
Celebrations across Italy and capital city Rome will be going on for days.
