The escalating conflict on Israel's border is yet another sign of an impending apocalypse, a doomsday preacher believes.

Christian evangelist Paul Begley believes the world is coming to an end, and has seized on this year's catastrophic events as proof of the coming apocalypse, including the coronavirus pandemic and several eclipses.

The preacher, who has more than 335,000 YouTube subscribers, believes Israel is the "Holy Land" and that a recent violent clash on its border is a premonition of things to come.

This week the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced it had thwarted an "infiltration attempt" by Lebanese militant group Hezbollah after months of tension.

The "terror squad" was beaten back with artillery that acted as a smokescreen for the IDF, while civilians in the area were ordered to remain inside during the clash.

Begley believes the recent events are yet another sign of the "end times", detailing his theory in a recent upload.

"The Bible told us that Israel was going to come under attack, without question," he said, before going on to quote Zechariah Chapter 11, which contains references to fire devouring Lebanon.

"'For I will no longer have pity on the people of the land,' declares the Lord. 'I will give everyone into the hands of their neighbours and their king. They will devastate the land, and I will not rescue anyone from their hands.'"

"This is an incredible chapter, nobody ever talks about it," he said of the supposed prophecy.

Begley claims the Bible predicted Lebanon being taken over by Hezbollah and causing their own downfall in the Israeli border conflict.

"They have set themselves up for the slaughter, for the attack upon them, because they opened a door they shouldn't have opened."

He quotes more lines of scripture that speak of God making Jerusalem "a cup of trembling" in a great siege, and vowing to defend the people of Israel.

"I will seek to destroy all nations that come against Jerusalem," he quotes, adding "this is incredible information".

He goes on to describe Israel as "the holiest place on Earth" and the location of a spiritual battle between good and evil that he believes is heating up and could result in apocalyptic scenes.

"This isn't really about us, this is about God and Lucifer."

He also mentioned the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, a recent solar flare and a meteor shower as further evidence of cosmic unrest. He believes such "signs in the heavens" are indications of God's will and could mean the end of the world.

Begley previously pointed to two major eclipses as signs of armageddon: the June 21 "blood moon" solar eclipse and the July 4 lunar eclipse.

The first phenomenon was of particular Biblical significance, he claimed, referring to when God told Moses that "darkness will spread over Egypt" as one of the 10 plagues.
