Eli Manning has told the story before: A nine-year-old Eagles fan welcomed him to Philadelphia with a double middle finger and choice comments about his family. On Monday night, he recounted the incident on live television to his brother Peyton and former Eagles defensive end Chris Long with a vigorous double “Go Birds” signal.

As he gave the double bird live on the Birds-Cowboys broadcast, Manning incorrectly assumed it could be blurred out. When the blowout came back from a fourth-quarter commercial break, Eli issued a smirking apology. “Earlier I gave the double bird, I’m sorry, I guess that’s frowned upon,” Manning said on ESPN2’s Monday Night Football Manningcast. “That’s what a 9-year-old did to me, I thought I could do it back.” However old that child is today, he or she was surely disgusted by the Eagles’ limp performance on Monday night, perhaps even calling for some playing time for Gardner Minshew.

After the ugly 41-21 Dallas win, the Manning brothers announced that their weekly chucklefests are taking a three-week hiatus until Week 7.
