Russian Official Goes Full Culture War: West is Trying to ‘Cancel’ Us, ‘As They Now Say in Tolerant Liberal Fascist Circles’
Russian Foreign Intelligence Director Sergei Naryshkin claimed his country is a victim of cancel culture as he blasted the international condemnation Russia has received for invading Ukraine.
Washington Post reporter Paul Sonne took comments from Naryshkin on Thursday where he claimed “The masks are off. The West isn’t simply trying to close off Russia behind a new iron curtain. This is about an attempt to ruin our government — to ‘cancel’ it, as they now say in ‘tolerant’ liberal-fascist circles.”

Sonne’s tweet wound up gathering notice from the Twitterverse, and a number of political observers snarked that Naryshkin’s comments sounded oddly resemblant of right-wing talking points about liberal intolerance and cancel culture. As such, the hot takes came pouring in.

Russian propaganda is parroting right-wing American propaganda.
This is a deliberate attempt to court conservatives in the West. They’ve done this before. Don’t fall for it. https://t.co/pf7Fy91hkk

Amanda Carpenter was referring to a Fox News segment earlier this week where Former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury Monica Crowley spoke to Jesse Watters and claimed “Russia is now being canceled” as the country has been condemned and sanctioned internationally.
