Fight or flight: Biden challenges DeSantis to come to Delaware himself amid border battle

.

President Joe Biden welcomed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to visit Delaware amid reports that he is shipping immigrants there.

“He should come visit. We have a beautiful shoreline,” Biden quipped when asked by reporters.

TEXAS SENDS TWO BUSLOADS OF MIGRANTS OUTSIDE HOME OF KAMALA HARRIS

DeSantis declined to confirm reports that he is sending immigrants near Biden’s Delaware house on Tuesday. Last week, he shipped roughly 50 immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard as part of a Republican initiative to throw shade at Democrats for the influx of immigrants at the southern border.

The Florida governor has defended the migrant flight gambit as necessary to protect Florida from an influx of immigrants who he claims would travel from the southern border to the Sunshine State.

Flight records indicate that one of the same flights that DeSantis reportedly tapped to fly immigrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard was headed to Delaware Coastal Airport on Tuesday.

“We’re aware of the reports, and continue to prepare for the possibility of migrants arriving in Delaware unannounced. Our teams at DEMA and DHSS are working with community organizations and other partners to make sure that migrants who arrive here have the support that they need,” Emily David, Gov. John Carney’s director of communications, said in a statement.

The White House is insisting it is also collaborating with local officials amid reports that DeSantis is sending immigrants to Biden’s home state.

“We are coordinating closely with state officials & local service officials who are prepared to welcome these families in an orderly manner as they pursue their asylum claims,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during a briefing Tuesday.

Last week, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott sent over 100 immigrants near Vice President Kamala Harris’s residence at the Naval Observatory. Since April, he has shipped nearly 10,000 immigrants to Democratic strongholds such as Washington, D.C., Chicago, and New York City. He has argued the move will give Democrats a taste of what Texans experience every day.

Like Abbott, DeSantis has slammed Democrats, particularly the Biden administration, for enabling a large inflow of immigrants at the border. Recently border arrests crossed 2 million for the first time in a fiscal year, setting a new record.
