No one wants to sit next to George! Lying Long Island GOP Congressman-elect looks miserable on VERY awkward first day in Congress after his long history of lies emerged
- Santos arrived at his Capitol Hill office on Tuesday to prepare to be sworn in
- He kept walking when a reporter bombarded him with a series of questions
- When he turned the corridor to his office, he saw the press and walked away
- Santos is facing criminal probes in the U.S. and Brazil connected to his lies
Scandal-plagued Republican George Santos sat alone at the start of the first House session of the new Congress after avidly refusing to answer a single question as he was grilled by press while walking into his Capitol Hill office.
He held his phone up to his ear multiple times but did not appear to be speaking into it. The new member looked down at his phone many times and greeted a small handful of other lawmakers who entered the chamber.
Reporters peppered the shadowy New York Republican with questions like 'Are you going to resign?' and 'Why did you lie on your resume?' A somber-looking Santos kept walking toward his office without a peep.
The Congressman-elect, who is facing criminal investigations in the U.S. and Brazil and is already facing bipartisan calls to resign for multiple fabrications about his background, earlier Tuesday morning had sheepishly arrived at the Longworth Building to prepare to be sworn in.
He kept walking as he was bombarded with multiple questions by ABC correspondent Lalee Ibssa, such as 'are you qualified to serve in this Congress?'.
When he turned the corner to arrive at his office, he saw a group of reporters and walked in the opposite direction.

The congressman has ignored reporters' questions all day
Santos was revealed to be a pathological liar after he won the 2022 midterm elections to represent New York's 3rd congressional district on Long Island.
His lies and fabricated stories span almost every topic from his education background to his family's heritage and criminal background.
He has admitted to lying about being employed at Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, as well as attending Baruch College and New York University.
Santos was also called out for falsely claiming his grandparents were Holocaust survivors, as well as misrepresenting details about his mother's work and not disclosing that he was married to a woman until shortly before his first run for Congress in 2020.
He's now being investigated by federal and state authorities over whether his lies ever broke any laws.

On Monday night, The New York Times reported that Brazil has reopened a criminal investigation into allegations he used a stolen checkbook to spend almost $700 under a false name.
The case was suspended for 10 years because they couldn't locate him.
After the 2008 incident, Santos reportedly came clean on a Brazilian social media website the following year, writing: 'I know I screwed up, but I want to pay.'
But fast-forward to 2022, the incoming member of Congress told the New York Post that he has never committed any crimes.
'I am not a criminal here — not here or in Brazil or any jurisdiction in the world,' Santos said.
Members of Congress from both sides of the aisle have called for a full ethics investigation into Santos' conduct.
By law Santos has to be seated as he was elected. It would require a vote of two-thirds of Congress to have him removed.
Republicans may not be fully behind getting rid of Santos, as he won a swing district that the Democrats could take back in a special election.
