The BBC has been rocked by a number of sex scandals over the years involving high-profile employees.
Most famous among them was Jimmy Savile, who during his lifetime was regarded as a charitable and eccentric BBC presenter, best known for TV shows such as Top Of The Pops and Jim’ll Fix It.
But all the while, the star was raping and assaulting hundreds of people – including girls and boys under the age of five – in television dressing rooms, schools and hospitals around the country.

A BBC Newsnight investigation into the abuse allegations, which was due to be screened two months after Savile’s death in 2011, was axed and an inquiry later found the decision to drop the story was ‘flawed’.
Other disgraced BBC entertainers include children’s TV presenter and singer Rolf Harris, who died in May at the age of 93.
Harris was jailed for five years and nine months after being found guilty of a string of indecent assaults between 1968 and 1986.
Before his crimes were exposed, he had painted a portrait of the late Queen to mark her 80th birthday and had been awarded an OBE, MBE, CBE and Bafta fellowship – awards that were later stripped away.
It’s A Knockout’s Stuart Hall was jailed in 2013 after he was found guilty of indecently assaulting 13 girls – one aged just nine – between 1968 and 1986.
He was released in late 2015 after serving half his sentence.
Ex-Radio 1 DJ Mark Page was jailed for 18 years for abusing children both online and in person in the Philippines.
And Dave Lee Travis, the former BBC Radio 1 DJ and Top Of The Pops presenter, was given a suspended sentence of three months for indecently assaulting a woman in 1995.
Sports and breakfast TV presenter Frank Bough’s image was shattered in 1988 when it was revealed he had snorted cocaine with prostitutes while watching couples having sex.
