The AI platform came up with a visualisation of the beautiful people, something which is subjective and changeable.

It's worth noting these images that AI is not generating these images freely.

The programme works by drawing on banks of data and finding images which are commonly associated with "beauty".

So in a society which associates beauty with being feminine, the photo appears more feminine.

It's also a society where youth is prized over age as a beautiful quality, so it's likely to put out youthful-looking faces.

So the AI is not making something new, if anything, it's holding up a mirror.

In this case, the engine has generated four images that aren't very diverse in nature.

Each of the women has long flowing hair – but one has it tied up – and the women have manicured eyebrows with the same lips.

It's worth noting this is only an analytical idea of beauty based primarily on facial patterns and ratios.

So a more symmetrical face, for example, would be more highly-ranked.

The AI images certainly seem to adhere to those principles as well.
