After capturing some American and British tanks from the front lines in Ukraine, Vladimir Putin triumphantly showed them off in Moscow.

Among the cars seen parked in the Russian capital with red banners proclaiming "Our victory is inevitable" was a British Saxon armoured personnel carrier, which is thought to have been donated to Ukraine in 2015.

The exhibit, which runs for a month, also includes a Swedish CV90, an American Bradley tank, and an armoured fighting vehicle built in France called the AMX-10RC. In an effort to celebrate the invasion of Ukraine, the Russian president also intends to parade the armoured cars, some of which will fly US and British flags.

In honour of Russia's victory over Nazi Germany in World War ll, the exhibition will take place on May 9th, concurrently with Moscow's Red Square Victory Day Parade.

In addition, a Swedish CV90, an American Bradley tank, and a French-built AMX-10RC armoured fighting vehicle will be present. Putin launched into a furious 10-minute address in front of the Kremlin on May 9 of last year, denouncing "Western global elites" and asserting that civilization was at "a decisive turning point."

In Russia, the most important day of the year is the festival honouring the Soviet triumph in World War Two. Putin compares his invasion of Ukraine to Russia's struggle against the Nazis.

Ukraine, which lost proportionately more ground to Russia during World War Two, accuses Russia of abusing its common past to support aggression.

It happened at the same time that Russia lost as many tanks in the war in Ukraine as it had in its armed forces overall prior to Vladimir Putin's invasion. Following Moscow's initial blitzkrieg attempt to seize the capital, Kyiv, more than 3,000 tanks have been damaged or destroyed in the two years of conflict.

According to the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) study, the Russian military has been making up for the shortage by urgently increasing defence spending and placing its economy on a war footing, all while resupplying the frontline from its strategic stockpiles of armour.

It comes after two police officers were killed by a group of terrorists who stormed a police checkpoint in the North Caucasus area of Russia, authorities reported on Monday. According to the regional office of Russia's Interior Ministry, the gunfight in the Karachay-Cherkessia region late on Sunday left all five attackers dead and four additional officers wounded.

The same shooters had broken into another police checkpoint in the area one week prior, murdering two officers and wounding another, according to the Investigative Committee, the nation's premier state criminal investigation organization. It didn't explain the motivation or connection of the perpetrators.
