A recently laid-off Tesla employee has described his sacrifices for his former workplace before their largest-ever job cuts affecting around 10 percent of staff.

The worker, Nico Murillo, described going above and beyond for his employer by practicing habits like sleeping in his car and showering at Tesla’s factory to improve productivity.

Murillo, previously a production supervisor at Tesla, wrote on LinkedIn: “At one point in 2023, I was even sacrificing sleeping in my car on work days just to avoid commuting to work,” Carscoops reports.

He added: “Showered at the factory and slept in the parking lot. Microwaved dinner in the break room.”

Murillo had been living a 90-minute drive away from Tesla’s factory.

According to RetailWire, on Monday, April 15, Murillo received an email stating that Tesla had eliminated his position before the electric vehicle (EV) maker’s security wouldn’t accept his badge to enter their property.

Murillo spent around five years at Tesla, according to his LinkedIn post.

Despite his disbelief in getting laid off, Murillo said: “Sacrificed a lot for the company.

“But this is just a small part of a chapter that is ending, and there’s a whole book waiting to be written. I’m only 29 years old and have a lot more career time in me.”

“Nico’s unwavering passion for his work was evident in everything he did. His dedication to supporting and motivating others, coupled with his reliability and strong work ethic, made him an invaluable asset to our team.”
