OVER 1,000 pro-Palestine protesters have been spotted marching toward the iconic Metropolitan Museum of Art where the 2024 Met Gala is being held.
The demonstrators took to the streets in New York City on Monday afternoon as they flooded the streets with chants, signs, and sirens to make their way to the Met Gala.
The protesters made loops about a block from the Met Gala for two hours and then headed downtown, an independent reporter giving live updates said on X, formerly Twitter.
The streets cleared up from protesters around 11 pm.
Around the time stars were arriving at the Met Gala, the crowd was seen removing steel barricades blocking off traffic leading to the event, prompting a large response from the NYPD.
Officers were trying to block protesters from getting to the Met Gala, but they kept pushing forward.

“If you remain in the roadway and refuse to utilize the sidewalk. You will be put under arrest and charged with disorderly conduct,” NYPD officers were heard saying from a speaker.
Police were moving protesters back with batons and pulling others off the roads.
However, hundreds more protesters were bound for the Met Gala as they worked their way through the streets and took shortcuts past barricades.
The protest split into three groups before reconvening blocks from the Met Gal, according to multiple social media reports.

A fight also broke out near the Met as the chaos heated up.
HEATING UP
Tons of barricades were seen completely trampled over as crowds bulldozed through.
Pro-Palestine chants were heard as they dashed across the streets of Manhattan.
Hundreds of signs with cryptic messages flooded the protests with demands for Israel to end its war in Gaza.
There have reportedly been at least eight protesters arrested as cops worked to clear the streets, according to multiple social media reports.
Some of those demonstrating were part of the group Within Our Lifetime and called for a Day of Rage protest.
The protest started at Hunter College but students from multiple New York City colleges called for their schools to cut financial ties to Israel.
They are fighting to support Palestinians as thousands lost their lives in the war.
The chants cried out, "We will not stop, we will not rest," according to an independent reporter covering protests.
"There is only one solution,” others chanted, per USA TODAY.
WAR ON GAZA
On Monday, Israel launched new airstrikes on Rafah after dismissing claims by Hamas about accepting ceasefire terms in Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the ongoing strikes by Israeli forces targeting locations in the Gaza Strip city on Monday night.
These actions occurred shortly after Hamas announced its acceptance of a ceasefire deal proposed by Egypt and Qatar.
