Kristi Noem Calls Off Disastrous Book Tour, Canceling Hits on Fox News and CNN at Last Minute

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) appears to have ended her media tour to promote her new book as both Greg Gutfeld and Dana Bash announced last minute cancellations from the governor.

Noem, once considered to be a frontrunner for Donald Trump’s VP spot, has gone through multiple tense and fiery interviews in recent days as she’s attempted to promote her memoir No Going Back, answering for several controversies from the book, including the admission she killed a puppy she deemed untrainable and a now-retracted claim that she met North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

CNN’s Bash announced on Wednesday during Inside Politics that she’d planned on having the governor on, but Noem’s team canceled at the last minute.

Before announcing the “abrupt” cancellation, Bash played a highlight of some of Noem’s more chaotic interviews, which have occurred on both left-leaning and right-leaning networks.

“Governor Noem was scheduled to be on this program, Inside Politics, today,” Bash said on Wednesday. “Her team reached out to us weeks ago to book her here and we reconfirmed this week. She abruptly canceled last night. We want to say that, governor, you are of course welcome on the program anytime.”

Bash noted she’d already made it through Noem’s book before the cancellation.

Fox News host Gutfeld found himself in a similar position this week, though the former Red Eye host decided to be a little less cordial.

On Gutfeld! on Tuesday, Gutfeld told his audience that Noem canceled at the last minute due to the “weather.”

“I don’t believe it. I just think it’s a little late to keep her on a short leash. I hoped she’d reconsider, but I’m not going to sit up and beg,” Gutfeld said.

Dana Perino did the interview in Noem’s place, which turned into a ruthless roast of the governor’s recent wild media appearances where she’s grown frustrated being asked about the puppy killing and has also refused to say she did not meet Kim Jong Un despite there being a retraction.

“Thank you for reading my book. I said some words that were written about me, and they were in a certain order of…they call them sentences, and so I read those aloud. I don’t know if that means I read the book, though,” Perino said as Noem.

Perino also joked in character that she “killed” another dog on top of the puppy, this one named “Ghost Writer.”
