A reverend speaking at the National Pro-Life Summit did a Nazi-like gesture in a direct reference to the Elon Musk incident following President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Musk caused quite a stir across the world when he made the gesture in early January. While speaking at Trump’s inauguration, he twice put his right hand on his chest before emphatically extending his arm outward with his open palm facing the ground. Although it was nearly identical to the Nazi salute used in the mid-20th century, Musk has repeatedly denied that was his intent. Instead, the billionaire claimed he gesturing that his heart was reaching out to the crowd.
Critics, however, haven’t bought that excuse and continue to accuse him of knowingly doing a Nazi salute. Making matters worse for Musk was the fact that even Germans believed he was calling back to the political movement once led by Adolf Hitler.
During the National Pro-Life Summit in Washington, D.C., Father Calvin Robinson spoke about America being the “only country that is fighting for life” when he mimicked the gesture as a send-off.
“This is the last stand for Christendom,” Robinson said. “It’s make-or-break time. The whole of the old world is crumbling. Every country in Europe is embracing death. America, as far as I can see, is the only fighting for life; and that’s down to you guys. So God bless all of you for what you’re doing. Please keep doing it. I hope that I can encourage you, and my heart goes out to you. God bless.”
The gesture was met with laughs and applause from the crowd.
In addition to his religious work, Robinson has established himself as a prominent figure in conservative politics in UK. The 39-year-old ran for office as a member of the Conservative Party and has been connected to a handful of right-wing organizations — including Turning Point UK. He became a spokesman for the UK Independence Party in 2024.
