Melania Trump's bizarre disapperance from public life has been explained after it was revealed that she has undertaken a major project at The White House. It has been revealed that the reason behind the First Lady's disappearance has been to film her Amazon-backed documentary.
The documentary, which Melania has promised to provide a “behind-the-scenes” look at her life, began filming earlier this year after the First Lady announced the project shortly before her husband was sworn in for a second time. An Amazon spokesperson reportedly described the project as an “unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look at First Lady Melania Trump.”
"We started the production in November, and we are shooting right now, so it’s a day-to-day life, what I’m doing, what kind of responsibilities I have,” Melania stated while being interviewed by Fox and Friends. “It’s day-to-day, from transition team to moving to the White House, packing, establishing my team, the First Lady office, moving into the White House, what it takes to make the residence your home, to hire the people that you need."
During the interview, the First Lady also commented on the fact that she isn't always at the White House. Melania told Ainsley Earhardt that she would “be in the White House,” but also said “You know, when I need to be in New York, I will be in New York. When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach.”
It was later reported by People that Melania's stepping away from the spotlight is just part of who the First Lady is. “She will never be a traditional first lady. That isn’t who she is," a source close to Melania told the magazine adding that she has “her own ideas on what she wants to do.”
A political source in Miami stated, “Melania has been busy shooting her documentary and that has taken place in several locations, including the White House.” It was reported last month that Melania managed to ink a $40 million deal with the tech giant.
The report stated that the First Lady was looking for a buyer for a documentary—which she will executive produce— and that her agent had reportedly pitched the film to a number of studios, including one owned by Amazon. Netflix and Apple declined even to bid.
It was reported by the outlet that Paramount made a lowball $4 million distribution-rights offer while Disney, the most interested studio besides Amazon, only offered $14 million. When she caught wind of her husband's dinner with Bezos, Melania consulted with Brett Ratner, the film's director, on how best to solicit the man.
“We licensed the upcoming Melania Trump documentary film and series for one reason and one reason only—because we think customers are going to love it,” said an Amazon spokesman. It was reported that the first lady’s cut from the film is more than 70% of the $40 million, according to people familiar with the matter.
It was also reported that Melania's agent had been trying to sell sponsorships for the film starting at $10 million to other CEOs and billionaires who attended Trump’s inauguration ceremony. According to Amazon, the documentary will have a small theatrical run before it becomes available on Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service.
Amazon said the project will offer an “unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look at First Lady Melania Trump.” According to the first lady, herself, production began back in November.
