RFK Jr. Claims He Will Root Out the ‘Autism Epidemic’ Cause Within Months and ‘Eliminate’ It
HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said Thursday at a White House cabinet meeting he is months away from determining the cause of the “autism epidemic.”
The audacious claim came with a prediction from Kennedy – that he would “eliminate” future “exposures” that he said were responsible for an alarming uptick in the number of US children diagnosed with autism in recent decades.
At a televised Trump administration cabinet meeting, Kennedy said he was working tirelessly to tackle the issue – one he has controversially commented on for decades.
Kennedy claimed for years that childhood vaccines were linked to autism. The claims have been thoroughly debunked by science and the HHS head avoided linking the two during his confirmation process.
He did not mention vaccines in relation to autism on Thursday but did tell President Donald Trump he was close to putting the issue in the rearview mirror.
“We have, as you, we have now the autism rates have gone from our most recent numbers we think are going to be about one in thirty-one,” Kennedy told Trump. “So, they’re going up again.” he added:
We are going to know by September, we’ve launched a massive testing and research effort that’s going to involve hundreds of scientists from around the world. By September, we will know what has caused the autism epidemic. And we’ll be able to eliminate those exposures.
Trump replied, “Think of that, so it was one in 10,000 children had autism, and now it’s one in 31. Not 31,000, 31. That is a horrible statistic, isn’t it? And there’s got to be something artificial out there that’s doing this. So you think you’re going to have a pretty good idea, huh?”
Kennedy responded, “We will know by September.”
Trump concluded, “There will be no bigger news conference than that. So that’s – if you can come up with that answer, where you stop taking something, you stop eating something, or maybe it’s a shot, but something’s causing it.”
