Hong Kong’s Centre for Food Safety has halted imports of poultry meat, eggs and live birds from the countries listed above as multiple strains of bird flu ravage Europe and Asia’s poultry industry. In a press release issued by the CFS this week, a spokesperson said that the suspension is intended to protect the public health of Hong Kong.

A CFS spokesperson said, "CFS has contacted the Japanese and French authorities over the issues and will closely monitor information issued by the OIE and the relevant authorities on the avian influenza outbreaks. Appropriate action will be taken in response to the development of the situation," the spokesman said. Similar statements were made regarding Poland, the UK, Germany and South Korea.
