Bookish Spotlight: Tiena from tlovesallthebooks

Welcome to a new post series here on Hopelessly Devoted Bibliophile! Back when I first started this blog, I used to interview other bloggers and share their content. I’ve missed doing that so much! It was a great way to get to know others who share the same passion, and give some much deserved love to amazing creators. So, it’s time to do that again! Check this space every other Saturday for a new spotlight, and click here if you’d like to sign up to be a spotlight yourself!

Our spotlight today is Tiena from tlovesallthebooks!

Instagram

In keeping with the theme of adorable pets in #bookstagram photos, Tiena was kind enough to bless us with not one but TWO bookish pet photos! How lovely is that? Now I’m questioning whether most of the Instagram pages I follow are because of people’s pets. To be honest though, that wouldn’t even bother me if it was true. But I digress, Tiena’s page is waiting to be in the spotlight, and trust me when I tell you that it is well worth your time!

Okay, time for me to stop rambling, and let you all get to know Tiena a bit better. Please enjoy a short interview with her below, and don’t forget to take some time to go and visit her!

Lightning round questions! Please answer with 15 words or less:

One book I would always recommend is American Street by Ibi Zoboi.

If I had to pick a favorite genre it would be Memoir. There is nothing more powerful than someone telling their own story.

I would describe myself as an extroverted introvert. (How’s that for an oxymoron?)

Can you share why you decided to start a bookstagram/blog?

My “bookstagram” was actually my personal Instagram that I really didn’t use much and when I did it was pictures of my fur kids! I got a new job in March 2019 that actually gave me decent work/life balance and I challenged myself to start reading, but I wanted to read differently. I really wanted to be purposeful and thoughtful about my reading. Then the pandemic hit and I started posting more, and it really just became a community for me. I think it’s a beautiful thing, sharing books and building community with people all over the world.

What is your favorite part about the bookish community?

Bookstagram amazes me in the connections that you can make with people in different states, or even different countries. I love the community. Social media can be a really negative space and bookstagram is a relief from that. I have found other bookstagrammers who challenge me from what I read, to how I believe and why, and have introduced me to books I probably never would have thought to read. Bookstagram also brought me to other local bookstagrammers!

If we were to peek into your space right now, what collections (other than books of course) would we find?

My current obsessions include: Bracelets from @wristroyalty, earrings from @evetheearringshop and @arabellagalleria, book sleeves from @happygolovelysleeves @dreamingofcelie @portercobookshop. Also I really need to get some art from @marianneangelirodriguez!

Where is your favorite place to read, and what absolutely needs to be there to make it feel perfect?

We have a new couch with a chaise lounge attachment and I LOVE to read there. Or, the futon in my home library. At least one of my fur kids is always with me, usually the pup. If it’s morning, must have coffee!

Lastly, what is one page (bookstagram or blog) that inspires you and you would LOVE to share with others?

Do I have to pick one?! @readingwithglamour – I connected with AJ very early in my bookstagram days. Not only does she post books that challenge her followers, she continues to be the same kind, authentic person as her account has grown. And @graceharestad – a fellow chronic illness warrior – strong as they come.

Our next spotlight will be in three weeks! Until then, happy reading.
