Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Bookish Memories (11/30/21)

Happy Tuesday friends! Getting back into the blogging groove again. Now that Thanksgiving is over, and with it the stress of get togethers, it’s time to focus on Christmas! My favorite time of year! I feel like my batteries have been recharged, and I’m so happy about it. It helps that I just realized that I am only one book finished away from reading 52 for the year. That’s so exciting!

Anyway, on to the prompt shall we?

Top Ten Bookish Memories

In no particular order, here are some of the things that I remember most vividly throughout my lifetime!

  • Dragging books, snacks and a blanket into the big tree in our back yard, and sitting up there for hours! We had two trees that touched one another, and there was a perfect spot in the middle for laying on branches. It was so nice to just be outside, relaxing, and reading!
  • Making our weekly trip to the local library, where I would always check out the max allowed books at a time (10 to be exact!). Browsing the shelves and making my selections was my favorite part!
  • SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIRS! Need I say more?
  • Sharing books with my friends. I obviously don’t see all my favorite people as often as I used to, and I miss showing up at school and swapping books with my friends.
  • Quiet reading time in class. I got to the point where I was so far ahead of everyone else in reading comprehension, that I was allowed to just sit and read whatever I wanted. Best. Feeling. Ever.
  • The first time that I went to a bookish conference. I attended YALLFEST and had the best time! At the time I didn’t have a lot of bookish friends, but I had a blast wandering around and getting swag. I got so many books signed too!
  • Which leads me to, the first time that I met an author in person! I went to have a book signed by Noelle Stevenson, and it was so amazing! I was so nervous, and I probably looked like a mess, but I was so very happy!
  • My first trip to a big used bookstore! There weren’t any where I grew up. Only one big shiny Borders (miss you Borders) and I was so amazed to see so many well loved books. Plus, who doesn’t like a good $1 or $3 book that smells like old book? Yessssss.
  • My visit to the Strand! We went to NY to visit family, and to attend a wedding, but my hubby and I spent a whole extra week out there in Manhattan. We did all the tourist things, and I spent a few hours in the Strand. LOVED that store. I can’t wait to go back.
  • Starting this blog <3. It’s been about 12 years since I started this journey, and I have never once regretted it. I love this bookish space, and I’ve made so many good friends.

That’s it for me! Do you have any memories that are similar to mine? I bet we all loved book fairs! If you also shared your memories, please comment below and I’ll go visit!
