My transition from HEY Mail to Fastmail is likely the best digital move I’ve ever made, and I wish I had done it sooner. It’s truly a blessing. ICYMI: the migration process is available here.

@numericcitizen I just want to say this so you are aware: to many of us any use of ai tech in production of things (be that articles, videos, whatever) is just… very icky to us.
I already had a positive impression of you because of things from before (your writing seem genuine and interesting to me), but these generative ai images leave a sour taste in my mouth.
It's obviously totally up to you what tools you use, but I'm just mentioning it as if I where in your position I'd at least would want to know.
If you're curious to why I feel the way I do I think this post by Information Architects (of iA Writer fame) describe it pretty well: https://ia.net/topics/ai-art-is-the-new-stock-image

@torb please, define « us », for me. Are you referring to the header image?

@numericcitizen Wow, that first sentence as not good. I'm rephrasing it: to many of us, any use of ai tech in production of creative works (articles, videos, etc…) is just very icky.
Us here is just like… some of us (I don't know how big portion honestly.)

@torb so you are referring to the header image in that specific article, right?

@torb I appreciate your feedback! I understand that AI-generated images can be a topic of discussion. For this article, I chose an AI-generated image because it allowed me to quickly create a visual that aligns with the theme. While I also enjoy working with original photography (I’m an amateur photographer and used many of my images with my articles), AI tools can be useful for efficiency, especially for illustrative or conceptual images. That said, I’m always open to feedback and exploring different creative approaches. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

FMail2 is a nice 3rd party Mac client for Fastmail. It's a wrapper around the web app, but it does let you have things like default mail links, keyboard shortcuts and some scripting support.
