1 John 4:1 – Don’t Believe Everything You Hear

Jeff — Sun, 11 Oct 2026 05:01:04 +0000

Christians must take many things on faith, but it’s important not to believe everything we hear. A little skepticism can protect us from false prophets.

Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.

Con: I hear you told Nim food has no calories if eaten in church.
Amos: That's right!
Con: No, that's wrong. Food always has calories.
Amos: Really? Oh, well. No harm, no foul.
Con: Then I guess you haven't seen him.
Amos: Seen who?
Nim: Hi guys, what's shaking?

Don't believe everything you hear.

Food In Church Has No Calories?

Jeff — Sat, 10 Oct 2026 05:01:05 +0000

God gives us so many blessings, it’s easy to go a little too far. While enjoying these blessings is not a sin, the Bible teaches us we need self control.

So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.

1 Peter 1:13

Amos: I can't wait for the church dinner this week! I'm going to have 2 hamburgers, a giant plate of fries, some of those big pickles, a couple of chocolate milks and two...no...three desserts!
Nim: Hold on, Amos...I thought you were on a diet. That's a lot of calories.
Amos: I am. But food you eat in church doesn't have any calories.
Nim: Hot dog!

If only that were true.

Isaiah 53:6 – Following God’s Path

Jeff — Fri, 09 Oct 2026 05:01:10 +0000

Take a step back from the path you’re traveling on to assess whether it’s the path God wants you to tread. It’s easy to get lost when you’re not looking.

All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.

Isaiah 53:6

Amos: So your quest for world domination has come to a close, huh?
Nim: Yeah, I finally understood that I was putting my faith in money instead of in God. And that God is the only one who can have dominion over the world.
Amos: That's a very mature attitude.
Nim: I know. And now I can focus on what I REALLY want.
Amos: What's that?
Nim: Pure, raw power!

Do you do things to bring glory to God or to bring glory to yourself?

Proverbs 13:17 – Worldly Success

Jeff — Thu, 08 Oct 2026 05:01:10 +0000

God wants us to succeed in everything we do, but we should never put the pursuit of money ahead of our relationship with God. Proverbs 13:17 speaks to this:

Wealth from get-rich-quick schemes quickly disappears; wealth from hard work grows over time.

Proverbs 13:17

Con: What's wrong?
Nim: Abby pointed out something bad I've been doing. I was trying to get rich quick so I could have power over my own destiny, instead of trusting God to care for me.
Con: Cheer up, little guy. At least you see the error of your ways.
Nim: I know. But now I don't get to dominate the world!

Only a fool relies on himself over God.

Philippians 4:19-20 – Trust God To Take Care Of You

Jeff — Wed, 07 Oct 2026 05:01:11 +0000

Do you trust that God will take care of you everyday? Or do you constantly worry about things, trying to take full control yourself? Let go and let God.

Philippians 4:19-20

Nim: My newest scheme is gonna make me millions!
Abby: Why is it so important to you to make millions?
Nim: Because...well...um...because...you see...it's...I...
Abby: It's not because you don't trust God to take care of you and that you have to take care of yourself, is it?
Nim: You know, you're sucking all the fun out of the world domination thing.

God will satisfy all of your needs.

Nim: And I said, "They were the wives of the Apostles."

Jeff — Sun, 04 Oct 2026 05:01:10 +0000

Every person alive can be called one of God’s “poems.” #ephesians #creation #godslove #poetry

Abby: In Ephesians, the word Paul uses to describe God's creation of us is the same word that became "poetry."

Abby: So you could say that each of us is one of God's "poems."

Nim: Not me.

Nim: I feel more like an unfinished short story.

"We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works." - Ephesians 2:10

Count Your Blessings

Jeff — Fri, 02 Oct 2026 05:01:09 +0000

Con tells Nim the secret to happiness is to count your blessings. #godbless #countyourblessings #blessings #blessing

↓ Transcript

Nim: I know somebody who always complains. She never sees the blessings in her life.

Con: You should pray for her. Pray that God will reveal her blessings and then touch her heart so that she can focus on the positive. Which will help her deal with her difficulties more easily.

Nim: I was just going to tell her to shut her kibble-hole and quit complaining, but your way sounds better.

If you remember your blessings, it's easier to deal with your problems.
